This is another fixed displacement hydraulic motor from Sauer Danfoss
that won't be displacing much in the near future... If you analyze the valve plate,
you'll see that it shows no signs of large particle scoring - only the
normal wear - which means that despite the fact that the rotary group
was completely destroyed, it is probable that no significant
contamination of the "high pressure department" occurred, which means
that there's a good chance of finding the pump in a reasonably good
condition.
I always advise clients to dismount and evaluate the
condition of both pump and motor whenever a closed loop transmission
fails. In this case the pump was dismounted and nothing but normal wear
was discovered. The overhaul of the pump resumed to re-sealing and
minor lapping. The motor had to take in a couple of more parts, yes he
