Nomogram for sizing hydraulic hoses
Adequate sizing of hydraulic lines is an essential step of any hydraulic project. I am old-fashioned - I prefer good old nomograms and a ruler to calculators and specialized software for the task - kind of a harmless tribute to tradition, if you know what I mean. It's almost like using an analogue pressure gauge over a digital one - an old technology still bearing unsurpassed qualities, like simplicity and instantaneous results. To give this traditional method of sizing hydraulic hoses and pipes an internet age twist, I came up with the following interactive page, which, hopefully, will find a place among your "engineering" bookmarks. You will need a flash player plug-in and a modern browser to view the nomogram correctly. Grab the yellow dots to move the interactive line - the rest you already know...

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the webmaster of www.mathwarehouse.com for letting me edit and use one of his flash files to create the line. Please note, that the code is still copyrighted by the www.mathwarehouse.com  (read the copyright notice here).
