These are internal parts from a Sauer Danfoss fixed displacement motor
that made part of a closed loop transmission of a Claas harvester. The
insignificant damage that you can see on the pictures was caused by
loss of lubricating oil film caused by low viscosity caused by high oil
temperature caused by malfunctioning cooling system caused by lack of
preventive maintenance caused by lack of maintenance at all... On these
machines there's a small but very important thermal valve that operates
cooler by-pass. This one malfunctioned just once... The pump ended up
looking just about the same... Award winning pictures are the last two,
showing two separated brass piston heads smashed and melted together by
the hydrostatic fury...
