This little screw pump got "screwed" when the outlet pressure exceeded
the nominal value by four times (20bar vs. 100bar)! Judging by the
shaft detail, the
resulting unexpected stop, caused by the jamming of the screws, was
abrupt enough to twist the hardened shaft. Just a reminder to all that
before flow testing an unknown hydraulic system, defining the type of
main components and stuff like their normal operating pressures is an
essential step.
